OUR TRITAN™ MATERIAL

Tritan ™ is a copolyester which forms when modifications are made to polyesters. For example, to introduce standard PET with various acids and diols, the material Tritan ™ is created from a chemical process. Copolyesters retain their strength, clarity and other mechanical properties even when exposed to a variety of chemicals. These advantages, combined with the high degree of flexibility, allow manufacturers to use Tritan ™ for a wide variety of product groups.

A few facts about Tritan™

  1. Tritan is a BPA-free plastic – it is not manufactured with bisphenol A (BPA) or the other bispenol compounds, such as bisphenol S (BPS).
  2. Tritan is impact-resistant – products can be used safely without breaking or cracking.
  3. Tritan is strong – it extends the life of water bottles and food containers, reducing waste flow.
  4. Tritan is exceptionally resistant to the dishwasher – the material can be washed almost without any material deterioration.
  5. Tritan is much lighter than glass – making it easier to handle, without the fear of breaking the material.

Easy to decorate – The material Tritan™ is relatively easy to provide with a screen print, label or sleeve. Similar to glass or PET, you can colour Tritan ™ packaging in different grades with every colour of the rainbow.

Tritan masterbatch

THE PRODUCTION PROCESS

Zengo mainly uses the ISBM production technology (Injection Stretch Blow Moulding). The production is made via a single stage technique. This method is extremely suitable for both small and larger sizes. The process is done in three steps:

Step 1: to the basic form (preform)

The Tritan ™ material is dried and goes from the dryer to the machine via a helical cylinder. During this transport, the granules are heated, resulting in liquid Tritan ™. The liquid mass is then injected into the first mould: the so-called preform mould.

Step 2: to the final shape

The basic shape now receives a neck sprayed with high precision. The blow mould gives the pre-form shape its final shape by providing the elastic part under the neck and blowing it out. Blowing causes the formation of the Tritan™ against the wall of the blow mould, which can produce all kinds of shapes and engravings.

Step 3: towards the final product

Here a removal unit puts the Tritan™ bottle or drinking glass on a conveyor belt on which a check is made that is related to the customer’s customized requirements. After this, the end products are packed in boxes or on pallets.
